The fields of grants and funding can often be a confusing place, Alison Wessel and Amy Moser will share their experience as Funding Information Network supervisors who help libraries and their patrons identify potential funding sources. This workshop will clarify the differences of the various types of funding available (e.g.,foundations, charities, corporations, government, etc.), describe the Funding Information Network and how to connect with a library within it, and demo the Foundation Directory Online database for finding potential funders. Participants will also learn how libraries can drum up excitement for library services and resources to help patrons search for funding. The workshop will conclude with next steps once a potential funder/grant is identified. This workshop complements well with the “Grant Writing Despite a Pandemic.” This program is worth 1 contact hour of continuing education.
